„Myšlenka na start dvou týmů padla někdy v březnu na soustředění v Chorvatsku, kde jsme to řešili s trenérem reprezentace Tomášem Konečným a Luďkem Teleckým (vedení Favoritu a člen prezídia Českého svazu cyklistiky). Oslovili jsme proto ředitele závodu Jaroslava Vašíčka, zda by byla možnost zažádat UCI o výjimku pro start dvou týmů. Tu jsme dostali, za což patří organizátorům velký dík,“ prozradil šéftrenér Favoritu František Trkal.
Na start se tak ve dvou týmech postaví celkem 12 českých reprezentantů. „Pokud má někdo reálnou šanci bojovat o dobrý výsledek v celkovém pořadí, tak jsou to vzhledem k extrémně náročnému profilu jen Vacek s Otrubou. Pro většinu dalších kluků to bude v první řadě velká škola cyklistiky,“ řekl šéftrenér Trkal.
Favorit kompletně zabezpečuje B-tým, který pojede jako výběr Čech a Moravy. „Já z pozice sportovního ředitele, áčko vede trenér reprezentace Tomáš Konečný. Se mnou je tu i realizační tým Favoritu, který se bude o kluky starat,“ dodal František Trkal.
