V úterý proběhla v Brně tisková konference k Mistrovství Evropy juniorů a U23 za účasti Tomáše Konečného, trenéra české reprezentace a dvou závodníků, Jakuba Otruby a Richarda Holce, kteří absolvují časovku v Brně i závod s hromadným startem ve Zlíně. Tomáš Konečný prozradil, s jakými ambicemi český tým do šampionátu vstupuje. „Obsadili jsme všechny kategorie v plném počtu. Silniční závody pojede šest závodníků v každé kategorii a časovky dva čeští reprezentanti. Před domácím publikem se chceme ukázat v nejlepším světle. Největší naději máme rozhodně v kategorii juniorů, kde Karel Vacek letos podává excelentní výkony a patří k velkým favoritům. Celý tým jsem se snažil k němu poskládat, aby mu kluci byli schopní pomoci, což se nám dařilo na všech světových pohárech,“ řekl Konečný ke konečné nominaci na Mistrovství Evropy. Karel Vacek patří k nejlepším juniorským cyklistům na světě především v dlouhých kopcích, ale letos se zlepšil také v časovce a je i mistrem republiky v individuálním chronometru. Celý tým se soustředí především na nedělní závod, aby všichni měli dost sil a pomohli Karlu Vackovi,“ dodává Konečný. „Většina týmu nestartovala o víkendu na GP Gènéral Patton v Lucembursku, kam jsem vybral závodníky, kteří zatím na žádný Nations‘ Cup nejeli s výjimkou Jana Kašpara. Místo toho se část týmu připravovala na Šumavě, Karel Vacek společně s Vojtěchem Řepou a Jakubem Boučkem tam ladili přípravu. A Petr Kelemen absolvoval dráhové závody v Polsku. Opravdu máme velkou šanci získat medaili, ale samozřejmě budeme potřebovat i trochu štěstí,“ věří Tomáš Konečný svému výběru v kategorii juniorů. Po zdravotních problémech se do formy vrací Nikola Nosková, jediná česká cyklistka v profesionálním zahraničním týmu BePink. I jí Tomáš Konečný důvěřuje: „Naději na dobrý výsledek máme i v kategorii žen, kde máme Nikolu Noskovou, která teď dokončila závod Tour de Feminin na šestém místě celkově a ukázala, že formu směřuje k Evropě. Také startuje šest závodnic a budou se snažit Nikole vytvořit nejlepší podmínky. Co se týče juniorek, myslím si, že velmi těžký profil by měl sedět Veronice Jandové z Favoritu Brno.“ V prestižní kategorii mužů U23 jsou nominováni Jakub Otruba, Richard Holec, Jan Rajchart, Tomáš Bárta, Roman Lehký a Adam Ťoupalík. Otruba a Ťoupalík byli hodně vidět na Mistrovství republiky v Plzni a mají za sebou bohatý závodní program v zahraničí. „Naším lídrem v kategorii mužů U23 bude Jakub Otruba, který se letos hodně zlepšil a ještě bude v této kategorii další dva roky, což je pro něj a pro národní tým pozitivní. Na Mistrovství republiky ukázal, že je schopný závodit s nejlepšími a dokončil na třetím místě absolutního pořadí. Richard Holec by se měl předvést hlavně v individuální časovce před domácím publikem, protože je původem z Brna a začínal tu s cyklistikou a bude mít zvýšenou motivaci se v časovce předvést.“ Otruba a Holec pojedou kromě závodu ve Zlíně i časovku v Brně a chtějí zajet co nejlepší výsledek. „Ladil jsem formu na šampionát v domácím prostředí. Myslím, že můžeme předvést kvalitní výkon jako celý tým. V časovce bych byl spokojený s výsledkem v první patnáctce, možná desítce. Silniční závod bude hodně těžký, ale věřím, že všichni vydržíme vepředu až do konce závodu, kdy se bude rozhodovat,“ prozradil své ambice Jakub Otruba. Richard Holec se těší především na časovku v Brně: „Formu zatím nemám stoprocentní, byl jsem nemocný na začátku roku, ale zlepšuji se, byl jsem třetí na mistrovství republiky v časovce a chci se ukázat doma v Brně před kamarády a fanoušky.“
