Český pohár mužů 2018 odstartoval

První závod českého poháru KALAS CUP 2018 ve Velké Bíteši absolutně vyhrál polský závodník Maciej Paterski (Wibatech Merx 7r).

V pravé poledne se 135 závodníků vydalo na 161 kilometrů dlouhou trať. Počasí jim příliš nepřálo, rtuť teploměru se zastavila na dvou stupních. Příbramští startovali v oslabené sestavě šesti závodníků. Hebík se stále zotavuje po dlouhé nemoci, Jakoubek se naopak zotavuje za zranění z Chorvatska a další dva závodníci leží doma s angínou. Už v prvních kilometrech se na čele utvořila osmičlenná skupina. Únik skupiny vypadal velmi nadějně, peloton místy ztrácel až sedm minut. Průběh závodu se začal měnit až před závěrečnými okruhy kolem Velké Bíteše, kdy se náskok skupiny začal výrazně tenčit. Příčinou byl nejdříve hromadný pád v pelotonu, po kterém se ve stoupání začalo útočit a zbytek startovního pole se tak nadělil na několik skupin. Hromadný pád postihl i naše dva lídry pro tento závod a to Martina Boubala a Pavla Grubera. Kromě materiálních škoda vyvázli oba bez větších zranění, ale s těžkými pohmožděninami. Přes tyto komplikace se jim podařilo po několika kilometrech stíhací jízdy dojet hlavní pole. To se ovšem v posledních okruzích závodu několikrát nadělilo, zejména díky jezdcům týmu Elkov Author. V posledním okruhu již neměli naši zranění jezdci dostatek sil na zachycení všech nástupů a tak cílovou pásku protnul nejlépe 23. Róbert Malik. Kousek za ním na 27.místě dojel i Martin Boubal a Pavel Gruber dokončil na 52.místě. Do cíle dorazilo pouze 59 závodníků, ostatní byli sborem rozhodčích odvoláni.
