Mistrovství Evropy juniorů a U23 už příští týden
Evropský šampionát v silniční cyklistice pro juniory a závodníky kategorie U23 začíná už příští čtvrtek 12. července v Brně. Šampionát odstartují juniorky a ženy U23, v pátek pokračují junioři a muži U23 a na víkend se mistrovství stěhuje do Zlína, kde se pojedou závody s hromadným startem.
Mistrovství Evropy juniorů a U23 hostí Česká republika opět po pěti letech. V roce 2013 byla jihomoravská metropole pořadatelem časovky juniorek a mužů. O tituly v časovce juniorů a žen se bojovalo ve Frýdku-Místku a hlavní část šampionátu se závody s hromadným startem se uskutečnila v Olomouci.
Brněnské časovky měly start a cíl na autodromu. Cyklisté ale nekroužili jen po závodním okruhu, který má pouze pět kilometrů. Třiadvacetikilometrová trasa vedla k přehradě a zpět. „Už před pěti lety nebylo snadné najít vhodnou silniční trať. O podobnou variantu s využitím autodromu, která nám z pohledu bezpečnosti i organizačního zabezpečení hodně pomohla, jsme se snažili i tentokrát. Bohužel v nabitém motoristickém kalendáři Masarykova okruhu nebyla žádná mezera,“ uvedl prezident organizačního výboru letošního mistrovství Evropy Marián Štetina.

Trať letošního šampionátu už přijel osobně zkontrolovat Enrico Della Casa, generální sekretář Evropské cyklistické unie (UEC). V průběhu úterního dne (26. června) stihl v doprovodu předsedy organizačního výboru Mariána Štetiny navštívit místo startu a cíle časovek na Brněnské přehradě, prohlédl si hotel Santon, kde bude hlavní zázemí brněnské části šampionátu včetně tiskového střediska, místností pro rozhodčí i VIP zóna.
Při zpáteční cestě do města se generální sekretář UEC zastavil v Pisárkách, kde obhlédl areál, v němž se koncem července příštího roku uskuteční mistrovství Evropy horských kol.
Della Casa také navštívil tiskovou konferenci na Nové radnici v Brně. Ještě před tiskovkou se setkal s oběma ambasadory šampionátu Ladou Kozlíkovou a Jiřím Škodou, s nímž si povykládal v italštině o problémech současné cyklistiky. Oba také zavzpomínali na start české cyklistické legendy na Giro d´Italia a Škodovo působení v osmdesátých letech na Apeninském poloostrově.
„Jsem rád, že mistrovství Evropy zavítalo po pěti letech opět do České republiky, kde jsou skvělí pořadatelé. Tratě jste vybrali perfektně, budou náročné. Věřím, že v duchu předcházejících evropských šampionátů v silniční cyklistice v České republice i mistrovství Evropy dráhařů v Brně, dopadne i tento šampionát po organizační stránce velmi dobře,“ uvedl na tiskovce Della Casa, který vyzvedl význam nadcházejícího závodu pro jezdce do třiadvaceti let z pohledu jejich další cyklistické budoucnosti.
„Uvidíte na startu závodníky, kteří budou v krátké době patřit ke světovým hvězdám. Právě dobré výsledky na mistrovství Evropy do třiadvaceti let jsou tou nejlepší vizitkou k získání profesionální smlouvy,“ dodal.
V sobotu a neděli šampionát pokračuje závody s hromadným startem ve Zlíně. Náročný okruh měří 10,4 kilometru s převýšením 290 metrů. Začíná ve Zlíně a přes obce Kudlov a Jaroslavice se vrací zpět do Zlína.
