Šéftrenér Favoritu František Trkal: S atypickou sezónou jsme se porvali dobře
Všichni závodníci Favoritu Brno U23, ale ani jejich trenér nikdy nezažili, aby se sezóna naplno rozjela až v létě. Rok 2020 byl hodně poznamenán pandemií koronaviru, přesto šéftrenér František Trkal hodnotí sezónu z pohledu silničního týmu mužů na kolech Stevens jako úspěšnou.
Jakých výsledků si ceníte nejvíc?
Petr Hampl skončil celkově pátý v Českém poháru, Pavel Gruber šestý. To je velice dobrá vizitka a stavím to hodně vysoko, protože jde o seriál, ne jeden závod. V týmech jsme byli čtvrtí, což zhruba odpovídá reálným možnostem Favoritu.
V kategorii U23 jsme vybojovali dvě pódiová umístění. Michal Procházka byl druhý na Tour de Brdy a David Kulhánek třetí v Mladé Boleslavi. Vyzdvihl bych i desáté místo Vojty Kmínka na mistrovství republiky v kategorii U23, mezi elitou jsme měli dva lidi v top 20, což vzhledem k té obrovské konkurenci nebylo vůbec špatné. Hlavně jsme se dobře prezentovali jako tým. Nesmíme také zapomenout na etapový závod Lidice 2020, kde obsadil Pavel Gruber ve velmi dobré konkurenci páté místo.
Sezóna byla kvůli Covidu hodně zvláštní. Dokázali se s tím všichni popasovat dobře?
Každý to měl trochu jiné. Celou zimu jsme na něco trénovali, v březnu jsme se vrátili z Chorvatska a měli jsme začít… Jsou kluci, kteří potřebují hodně závodit. Klasickým příkladem je Petr Hampl. Je to starší závodník a potřebuje kolotoč závodů, aby se rozjel. V normální sezóně by jeho výkonnost byla určitě ještě lepší. Ale někdo se s tím vypořádal úplně v pohodě. Velký progres zaznamenali třeba Vojta Kmínek, loňský junior Adam Křenek nebo Michal Procházka. Ale řekl bych, že každý z našich závodníků si v sezóně našel svoje místo, kde udělal slušný výsledek, a pomohl k dobré prezentaci týmu.
Samozřejmě bych byl radši, kdyby proběhla standardní sezóna, protože jsme měli kvalitní zimní přípravu a mohli jsme na to navázat. Ale ta situace byla pro všechny stejná.
Jak moc vás mrzelo, že kvůli nemoci vypadl Michal Rotter?
To bylo velké oslabení. Onemocněl mononukleózou a vyřadilo ho to na celou tu zkrácenou sezónu. Pro tým šlo o velké oslabení, přece jen je to loňský vicemistr republiky v časovce. A před sezónou měl výborné výsledky testů, takže jsem od něj čekal dobré výsledky. Ale nedá se nic dělat. Doufám, že už bude vše v pořádku a Michal se s námi v příštích dnech zapojí bez omezení do přípravy.
Kdy začne příprava na novou sezónu?
Většina kluků začne zvolna tento týden. Ještě pořád se dá jezdit na kole, ať už na silničním nebo horském. Do toho nějaká turistika, běh. Sice nemůžeme využívat fitness centra, ale různá stabilizační cvičení se dají v pohodě zvládnout i doma.
