Štěpán Široký: Silnice je priorita, ale dál ji chci kombinovat s dráhou
Junior Štěpán Široký z Favoritu Brno je cyklistickým obojživelníkem. Úspěšně kombinuje silnici na kole Stevens a dráhu, v obou disciplínách dosazuje velmi dobrých výsledků i na mezinárodním poli.
Letos skončil na ME na dráze čtvrtý ve scratchi a stejné místo obsadil i ve vylučovacím závodě, je mistrem republiky ve stíhacím závodě jednotlivců, k tomu získal několik dalších medailí. Na domácím velodromu vyhrál mezinárodní etapový závod na dráze 500+1 kolo v kategorii juniorů. V Českém poháru na silnici mu patřilo v konečném účtování druhé místo, navíc vyhrál poslední závod v Kyjově a v časovce družstev obsadil z kolegy z Favoritu na domácím šampionátu třetí místo.
Jak hodnotíš sezónu 2020?
Sezóna začala pozdě, nikdo nevěděl, kdy se začne závodit. Nakonec se silnice i dráha rozjela a mně se dařilo. Na dráze jsem byl většinou na bedně a na silnici jsem si bednu taky užil, hlavně v kritériích. Nakonec z toho bylo slušné celkové druhé místo v Českém poháru na silnici a na dráze jsem mistr republiky ve stíhačce a několikanásobný vicemistr. Absolvoval jsem několik mezinárodních závodů za reprezentaci, kde se mi celkem dařilo. Takže sezóna 2020 dopadla dobře, ale pořád je ale co zlepšovat
Jakých výsledků si nejvíce ceníš a proč?
Jsem moc rád, že jsem startoval na ME juniorů na dráze v Itálii a zajel dvě čtvrtá místa ve scratchi a ve vylučovačce. Bylo to moje první mistrovství na takové úrovni a nabral jsem tam zkušenosti a užil si tu atmosféru cyklistiky. Na dráze jsem také v mezinárodním závodě 500+1 kolo obsadil 1. místo, to byl pro mě velice silný zážitek. Také si cením startu v závodě Světového poháru na silnici v Maďarsku, ve druhé etapě jsem dojel na pátém místě a posbíral své první UCI body.
Jak ses popasoval s dlouhou nucenou pauzou kvůli covidu, kdy nebylo jasné, kdy se začne závodit?
Bylo to náročné, příprava byla hlavně individuální. Protože se nadalo závodit, využil jsem času k přípravě, kterou jsem bral opravdu vážně a v kategorii juniorů jsem chtěl dosáhnout co nejlepších výsledků. Zaměřil jsem se na výkon, stravu a také bylo důležité být psychicky v pohodě. Myslím si, že jsem tuto vynucenou pauzu využil a příprava se pak odrazila na výsledcích, se kterými jsem spokojen.
Úspěšně kombinuješ silnici s dráhou. Počítáš s tím tak i do budoucna?
Ano, v budoucnu bych se rád věnoval oběma disciplínám, silnice je priorita, ale dráha je pro mě velice důležitá a mám ji rád. Je to taková srdeční záležitost, o čemž jsem se utvrdil právě na ME v Itálii. Na silnici je každý závod jiný – jsem spíš sprinter, takže mi vyhovují klasikářské a rovinaté profily. Na dráze jsou mou dominantou vytrvalostní disciplíny.
Dá se říci, jestli máš blíž k silnici nebo dráze?
Asi ne. Každá disciplína je jiná, ale vzájemně se prolínají. Zkušenosti z dráhy, kde je velmi těsný kontakt a kde jsou důležité rychlé reakce ve vysoké rychlosti, stejně jako jízda v závěsu a nasátí rychlosti, kterou pak využiju v nástupu a spurtu, jsou pro mě výhodou na silnici. Jak jsem ale již zmínil, prioritou je pro mě silnice.
Jaké máš cyklistické plány do budoucna?
Rád bych se věnoval cyklistice profesionálně, mým snem je jezdit ve WorldTour teamu. Jet Tour de France, to je opravdu sen nejvyšší úrovně. V nejbližší budoucnosti je přede mnou příprava na sezónu 2021, které chci dát maximum. V plánu je ještě v zimě silniční soustředění ve Španělsku.
Máš nějaký cyklistický vzor?
Mým vzorem je Bradley Wiggins. Uměl krásně kombinovat silnici i dráhu a dokázal, že jde být mistr světa na silnici i na dráze.
Jak jsi spokojen ve Favoritu Brno?
Ve Favoritu Brno jsem začínal jako kadet, takže začínám tady čtvrtou sezónu. Hodně jsem se toho naučil a v cyklistice se posunul. Je tady skvělý kolektiv a je mi tady dobře. Zázemí a trenérská podpora je velice dobrá, jsem rád za zajištění tréninkového plánu a za umožnění se dál rozvíjet a jít za svým cyklistickým snem.

Musím říci, že v letošním roce udělal Štěpán velký výkonnostní progres. Moc dobře si uvědomuje, že to není jen trénování, ale že celkový výkon se skládá z dalších součástí, jako jsou strava, regenerace, trénink nebo škola. Po všech stránkách na sobě velice tvrdě pracuje. Vyzrál i cyklisticky i myšlením. Jako závodník je to spíš takový klasikář, kterého když si dovezou do spurtu, tak umí vyhrát. Kde bude jeho uplatnění do budoucna? Podle mého názoru je v jeho případě ideální v současnosti dál kombinovat silnici a dráhu. Myslím si, že tréninkový systém, který praktikujeme ve Favoritu, a funguje velice dobře, mu sedí.
