Brněnský velodrom oslaví 135 let existence
Ačkoliv je závěr roku zpravidla spojen s bilancováním, je to také období plánování a výhledů do časů budoucích. V roce 2024 si brněnská dráha připomene 135 let od slavnostního otevření. Za tu dobu zažila mnoho. Od časů ústrků pro její domnělý německý původ, přes obě poválečná vstání z popela až po její vrcholné období započaté koncem 50. let a vrcholící při mistrovstvích světa 1969 a 1981. I přes své stáří, které ji řadí k vůbec nejstaršímu velodromu na světě, však stále splňuje pravidla a podmínky pro pořádání významných akcí Mezinárodní cyklistické federace (UCI). Důkazem jsou závody, které jsme v letošním roce pořádali a které jsou do kalendáře UCI zahrnuty i v nadcházející sezóně.
Při květnovém světově ojedinělém etapovém bodovacím závodě 500+1 kolo, v jehož rámci se jeli vložené závody kategorie UCI Class 2, zavítali na brněnskou dráhu závodníci z dvaceti států celého světa. Kromě Austrálie zde měli zastoupení všechny zbývající trvale osídlené světadíly. S takovou rozmanitostí startovního pole se těžko může měřit jakákoliv jiná akce na území města Brna a pravděpodobně i v celé republice. Pořadatelsky úspěšná sezóna byla završena tradiční zářijovou Přilbou Moravy, která se již posedmé jela spolu s GP Favorit Brno v madisonu jako součást závodů kategorie UCI Class 1. I zde se prezentovali dráhaři z celého světa.
Historie dráhy je tak bohatá, že si zaslouží vydání samostatné publikace, na které se již pracuje a měla by vyjít v průběhu roku 2024. Renomovaný znalec nejenom české historie cyklistiky Jan Králík pečlivě studuje podklady, které mu skýtá obsáhlý archiv TJ Favorit Brno, zpovídá žijící legendy a pátrá v zašlých zákoutích minulosti. Cenné informace poskytnou také odborníci na architekturu a dějiny umění z řad brněnských vysokých škol a dalších odborných institucí. Na své by si tedy měli přijít jak milovníci cyklistiky, tak také nadšenci architektury, neboť ve zdech a pod střechou velodromu se skrývá nejen štědrá sportovní minulost, ale také výjimečné stavební umění.
Velodrom je majetkem naší tělovýchovné jednoty Favorit Brno, s jejímiž dějinami je neodmyslitelně spjat od roku 1957 a zejména její zásluhou přežil až do dnešních dní. Před sezónou 2023 jsme, vědomi si historického bohatství, kormidlo zájmu u elitní kategorie opět přesunuli na dráhovou cyklistiku a těší nás, že již po roce transformace jsme s převážně vlastními odchovanci dosáhli v mužské kategorii dlouho nezaznamenaných výsledků.
Za všechny zmiňme Adama Křenka, trojnásobného mistra republiky na dráze, aktuálně se připravujícího na lednové mistrovství Evropy, kam byl nominován zásluhou kvalitních výkonů v průběhu celé sezóny. Může tak navázat a vylepšit svá umístění z mistrovství světa i Evropy, kterých se účastnil letos. Křenek se zaskvěl také při domácím závodě 500+1 kolo, kdy se ve výše zmíněné nabité konkurenci umístil na skvělém třetím místě, což bylo snad po více než patnácti letech poprvé, co stál závodník Favoritu Brno na podiu při tomto prestižním závodě.
Pódiová umístění si z mistrovství republiky odvezli také Štěpán Široký, mimo jiné rovněž účastník mistrovství Evropy, Viktor Padělek a spolu s nimi také z týmového stíhacího závodu Michal Rotter i nový člen týmu Šimon Vaníček. Úspěchy jsme však sbírali i na silnici zásluhou zejména Širokého a Rottera, kteří se několikrát umístili na stupních vítězů.
Dařilo se i mládežnickým kategoriím. Výsledkově se můžeme opřít zejména o silnou skupinu kadetů, jmenovitě o mistry republiky a medailisty z mistrovských závodů Matěje Vašinu a Jaroslava Hubáčka. Nejúspěšnějším závodníkem této kategorie byl však Šimon Matějek, který po letošní sezóně přestupuje do Dukly Praha. Čerstvý mistrovský titul má na svém kontě i mladší žák Viktor Kysela. V juniorské kategorii si kvalitními výsledky o angažmá ve slovenském silničním UCI týmu RRK Group – Pierre Baguette – Benzinol řekl Štěpán Dalecký.
Ve světle těchto úspěchů bychom všem našim fanouškům, podporovatelům a přátelům rádi popřáli příjemné prožití vánočních svátků a mnoho úspěchů v roce 2024.
